Depending on the product being installed and the installation area, each project is unique and may require different tools to complete the job. If you have questions please contact us at [email protected]

Each tile project is unique and will depend on a few different things: the product being used, the space where the product is being installed, and how much time was spent on prep & layout.

It is recommended to order 10%-15% extra product based upon pattern layout to accommodate for cuts and repairs. Availability and style of tiles are always changing so having an extra box or two on hand is highly recommended. Do check with your contractor .

The more complex your pattern becomes, the greater percentage of overage should be considered. We recommend consulting with your tile installer to determine the accurate amount of material needed for your project.

Tile can be heavy prior to installation, use proper lifting techniques to avoid injuries. When cutting tile, JustTileSetters recommends the use of safety goggles and other safety equipment as necessary.

There are multiple considerations when determining your grout joint. These include, but are not limited to: Appearance Maintenance Traffic Finish/Edges Material

The difference between sanded and unsanded grout is silica sand. The sand acts as a filler and adds strength for application in grout joints larger than 1/8 inch. Unsanded grout is for grout joints 1/8 or smaller. The width of your grout joint will determine what grout should be used. Both sanded and unsanded will work in 1/8 grout joints. Suggested grout and finish may be contingent upon the material types, such as polished marble, travertine, and glass.

Grout is as much a personal option as selecting your tile. We can make suggestions based on what's commonly used but we strongly suggest that you select the color that is right for you and your design objective.

Many variables can affect the time needed for this set, mastic, and floor mix to properly cure. We recommend waiting 24 hours before allowing traffic on any recently installed tile.

As defined by ANSI (American National Standards Institute) standard A108.02, Section 4.3.7: "Lippage refers to differences in elevation between edges of adjacent tile modules." In other words, there is often a difference in height between tiles that touch one another, which creates a warped ridge surface that isn't completely flat. There are a few steps tips for installing large format tiles that will help avoid lippage: The Tile Shop offers products and tools, such as the Raimondi System and Leveler, to determine if your subfloor is flat enough to receive tile. If it is not flat, you'll need to replace the subfloor. Replacing the subfloor will vary depending on the material of the floor so we recommend speaking with a Tile Shop Associate in regards to your specific project before moving forward. Create a grout joint that securely holds your tiles in place. It's recommended to have a minimum width of 3/32 inches between adjacent tiles because the closer the edges, the more the lippage will be accentuated by any abrupt changes in plane.

The Tile Shop recommends using a non-acidic, anti-bacterial cleaner for man-made materials like ceramic and porcelain as well as natural stone materials

For unexpected situations such as this, we always consider saving at least one box of tile depending on the size of your project; this is because tile dye lots change and may not be available if you need a replacement. Always use proper safety equipment including eye protection. We suggest removing all grout around the damaged tile before removing it. Using a hammer, strike the tile in the middle, fracturing into small pieces. Utilizing a power scraper, strike tile from the sides. Be careful not to damage any tile surround the damaged piece

Back buttering during the installation process will fill in the holes on the backside of travertine stone and is highly recommended. Holes can be filled on the surface of travertine tile with Tenax Natural Stone Filler. Tenax Natural Stone Filler is a two-part resin that comes in a wide array of colors to match your stone.

Yes, we highly recommend sealing your grout. Unsealed grout is more vulnerable to stains and will most likely need to be replaced over time. Be careful not to clean your grout with harsh acidic cleaners to avoid stripping the sealer on the grout.

The first step to protecting your investment is to seal the stone with the right sealer. Once this has been done, remember to use a PH balanced cleaner, such as Grout and Tile Neutral Cleaner and/or Anti-bacterial cleaner. Never clean with any type of acidic cleaner as this could strip the sealer over time. Acid can also etch the polished natural stone. We also suggest using these neutral products to maintain the grout joints on any ceramic, porcelain, or glass tiles

When properly maintained, the sealer should have a lifespan similar to what is stated on the label, however, this will vary depending on the traffic and use of the space where the tile is installed. For a general idea, Premium Gold and Enhance & Seal can last up to 15 years with proper care. The easiest way to determine if your stone or grout needs to be re-sealed is to lightly spray it with water. If the water beads on the surface, the stone and/or grout is still in good condition. If the water is absorbed, the sealer should be reapplied properly.
